The Reconnect Initiative is Project Connects jail-based program designed to support individuals as they begin the work of rebuilding their lives while still incarcerated. We believe that real change begins with relationships, reflection, and the opportunity to see a different path forward. Through the Reconnect Initiative, we walk alongside participants as they take time to look honestly at their past choices, understand the impact those choices have had on themselves and others, and begin developing the tools needed to move toward a healthier and more stable future.

 

Participants in the program engage in a variety of structured groups and supportive programming that focus on personal responsibility, recovery, and positive life change. This includes Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), peer processing groups, and recovery meetings. These spaces provide opportunities for individuals to practice accountability, learn from one another, and develop insight into the patterns and decisions that have contributed to their current situation.

 

Beyond the curriculum and meetings, one of the most important aspects of the Reconnect Initiative is the sense of community it creates. Participants are encouraged to support one another, model leadership, and build healthier ways of communicating and resolving conflict. Many individuals discover, often for the first time, that they are capable of growth, self-reflection, and being a positive influence on others.

 

The Reconnect Initiative also focuses on helping individuals prepare for life after release. Our team works to connect participants with resources that can support their transition back into the community. This may include assistance with housing, employment opportunities, recovery support, and building healthy relationships. We believe that reentry is not something someone should face alone, and our goal is to continue walking alongside individuals as they navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with starting fresh.
